CODY, Wyo., Sept. 28, 2026 – Cody Regional Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Kyla Carlson, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, to its Women’s Health team. Dr. Carlson will join the organization in October, strengthening access to comprehensive OB/GYN care for women and families throughout the Big Horn Basin.
Dr. Carlson’s arrival strengthens Cody Regional Health’s established Women’s Health & Nursery team and supports the organization’s commitment to providing experienced women’s healthcare close to home. Her clinical experience includes routine and preventive women’s healthcare, pregnancy care and deliveries, gynecologic care and minimally invasive surgery.
“Dr. Carlson brings extensive experience, a strong commitment to rural healthcare and a patient-centered approach that will be a tremendous addition to our Women’s Health team,” said Cody Regional Health CEO Hannah McRae.
A Wyoming native who grew up in Wheatland, Dr. Carlson graduated from the University of Wyoming before earning her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. She completed an osteopathic internship at MetroHealth Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, and her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Spectrum Health/Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Dr. Carlson spent more than 14 years as an attending physician with Billings OB/Gyn Associates in Billings, Montana, caring for some of the region’s most critical obstetric cases and performing minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries. “Most recently, she pursued her interest in clinical education at Rocky Vista University – Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine before returning to clinical practice and join Cody Regional Health.”
“It is a privilege to care for women during some of their most vulnerable and life-changing moments,” Dr. Carlson said. “Helping a family welcome its newest member is incredibly meaningful, and I truly cannot picture myself doing anything else.”
Dr. Carlson describes her approach to patient care as straightforward, honest and collaborative. She believes patients should understand their condition, care options and the potential risks and benefits of each approach so they can be active participants in decisions about their health.
“Caring for patients is a partnership,” Dr. Carlson said. “I want to provide clarity while also being compassionate and kind.”
For Dr. Carlson, joining Cody Regional Health provides an opportunity to reconnect professionally with her Wyoming roots while continuing to serve patients throughout the region. She was drawn to CRH by the organization’s culture, supportive medical staff and the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with patients and families in a smaller community. Her arrival strengthens an established team dedicated to providing coordinated care through each stage of life, from routine gynecologic care and surgery to pregnancy, delivery and ongoing women’s healthcare.
