Our Place Café Closing Its’ Doors After 30 Years

On Wednesday, August 30, Our Place Café in Cody, Wyoming announced it will be closing it’s doors for good. The hometown diner has been a staple in the Cody community for over 30 years.

The café, which proudly served “home cookin’ and 25 cent coffee”, was selected as one of the top “can’t-miss spots to dine, drink, and feast” places from Tripadvisor last year.

In a Facebook post on their business page, Our Place Café wrote, “This decision was not made lightly and has been very hard to come to terms with.”

They shared that the closure was due to a staffing shortage. “As you all know, it has been very hard finding employees to help work the business the way it should run,” shared the restaurant. “Unfortunately, we don’t see this getting better in the near future.”

They also shared a reminder about being kind when supporting local businesses. “Please keep in mind, when you’re shopping or eating out, that many businesses are struggling with this same issue,” they continued. “Please be patient with the employees that did show up and be kind to them.”

The announcement was shared to the Facebook group Cody Chit Chat and local resident Kate Beaman Williams shared her thoughts about the business closure. “Seeing Our Place Café closing makes me sad.”

“What I loved about these guys is the fact that they cared about their regulars and locals,” Beaman Williams continued. “Sometimes in a town based on tourism it can be hard to find.”

Our Place Café also expressed gratitude in their announcement to their loyal customers. “We want to thank all of our amazing customers for their continued support over the last 30 years, you have become family to us and we will miss you all so very much.”

The last day open for the café will be Sunday, September 17.
