Larry The Cable Guy To “GIT-R-DONE” At Cody Stampede Parade

Larry the Cable Guy

The Cody Stampede Parade Committee has announced that Larry the Cable Guy will be the grand marshal for the famous Stampede Parades on July 3-4.

In its announcement, the committee said, “Cut off those shirt sleeves, and let’s show Larry the Cable Guy a true Wyoming Welcome.”

The event this year is appropriately named “Git-R-Done, in Western Style.”

It’s not clear if Larry the Cable Guy will perform any of his legendary comedy while he’s in town.

The Cody Stampede Parade has attracted big names to be parade grand marshal or guests of honor in the past, including the governor, current and former US senators and dozens of celebrities.

Debbie Herman, president of the Cody Stampede Parade Committee, told Cowboy State Daily that it didn’t take much arm-twisting to get Larry the Cable Guy interested in being this year’s grand marshal.

“He loves to come to Cody,” she said. “He had a good time when he was here a couple of years ago. When it came time for us to pick a grand marshal, there was already a relationship established.”

She tells Cowboy State Daily that Larry and Cody Stampede’s office manager struck up a friendship during a previous visit.  Taylor Bednarz and Larry have stayed in touch ever since.

The announcement comes two years after a “Yellowstone” TV star agreed to be the grand marshal of the Cody Stampede Parade.  Cole Hauser, who stars as Rip Wheeler on the show was in town for a veterans event and was the guest of a board member of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West when he agreed to be the grand marshal.

Larry the Cable Guy will preside over the two Cody Stampede Parades held every year in conjunction with the Cody Stampede PRCA Rodeo.

Organizers say Governor Mark Gordon will be carried through the parade on July 3rd by the Powder River Percherons.  Other politicians and celebrities will also appear during the 2-day event.
