Cody has the distinction of winning another “spirited” contest.

The town founded by Buffalo Bill back in 1901, has certainly grown it’s reputation for great restaurants and food, but now Cody has been awarded “Best Small Town Beer Scene” by USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

“We certainly appreciate the way readers hopped to it when it came time to vote,” says Ryan Hauck, who is the executive director of Cody Yellowstone. “They appreciate the quality of our local beers as well as the friendly ambiance that makes it a pleasure to have a cold one here.”

Last year Cody Yellowstone introduced its Sippin’ Trail as a great way for thirsty visitors to experience some of the region’s most popular restaurants and bars. The trail includes breweries, drinkeries and unique venues such as a cigar lounge and a historic hotel built by town founder Buffalo Bill Cody. Not only do visitors and locals alike have the opportunity to visit numerous of the area’s locally famous locations boasting exceptional libations including brews, cocktails and spirits, but they are also rewarded with free prizes along the way.

The award is just the latest in a multi-year run. Last year the editors of True West magazine named Cody the “Top Western Town” and “Best Old West Art Town” while the Smithsonian-affiliated Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Plains Indian Museum was named “Best American Indian Collection, and the Irma Hotel was recognized as the “Best ‘Who Slept Here’ Hotel.” In addition to the editors’ choices, readers named the Cody Trolley the “Best Historic Town Tour.”

The town was recently lauded by USA Today in a list of Top Small Town Arts Scenes and a  top art town by Travel + Leisure. True West made special note of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Whitney Western Art Museum, the month-long Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale and the Rendezvous Royale Western art celebration.

Cody is currently in the running for “Best Small Town in the West” by USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
