Cody Cubs Take 3 of 4 Against Lander, Lewistown

The Cody Cubs were back in action over the weekend as they took to the diamond for 4 games over the course of 3 days.

The Cubs would conclude the weekend winning 3 of the 4 games played.

Starting off with a look at Friday’s contests, where the Cubs played host to the Lander Legends for a pair of conference games.

The Cubs would sweep the night, winning game 1 by a final of 20-6 and took game 2 by a final of 11-1.

In game 1, Jace Jarrett would take to the hill for hist first start in a month. Jarrett would pick up the win going 2.1 innings pitched while giving up 6 runs (2 earned) on 2 hits and struck out 2.

The Cubs fell behind early, trailing 1-0 after a half inning of play. It was all Cody from there. They put up 4 or more runs in every inning.

Ben Reinker had a field day at the plate going 3-4 while scoring 4 runs. Trey Thomasson added a pair of hits, totaling 4 RBI’s while scoring 3 runs.

Every Cub that batted in this one either scored a run or had an RBI.

In game number 2, Ben Reinker would take to the hill for his 9th start of the season and picked up his 6th win of the summer. Reinker went 5 innings while giving up 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 5.

Lander would again take an early 1-0 lead in this one but like they did in game 1, the Cubs would explode offensively. Cody really opened up the game with a 6-run 3rd inning that spelled doom for Lander.

Dominic Phillips, Wyatt Carlson, Eli Johnston and Kaiden Kondelis all had a pair of hits to lead the way.

The Cubs would then return to action, on Sunday, as they ventured back up to the Treasure State for a meeting with the Lewistown Red Birds.

The teams would split the twin bill with Cody winning game 1 by a final of 16-2 and Lewistown took game 2 in walk-off fashion 12-11.

Easton Hartley got the start in the first one, his 4th start of his Legion “A” career, and tossed 5 innings of 3 hit ball while giving up 2 runs, walked 4 and struck out 3 for his 4th win of the season.

Lewistown would open the scoring, taking an early 1-0 lead after the 1st but Cody’s bats came alive soon after. The Cubs poured in 9 runs in the 2nd which helped lead them to another big win.

Trey Schroeder led the way offensively with 3 hits all while collecting 2 RBI’s. Jace Jarrett and Eli Johnston had a pair each.

In game 2, the Cubs would fall just short as Lewistown walked it off in the bottom of the 7th. Cody held a 9-2 lead at one point but was outscored 5-1 in the final 2 innings.
