Cody, Wyo. (May 12, 2026) – Cody Regional Health is inviting community members to
experience the future of surgery during a special event showcasing its DaVinci Surgical Robot
on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The first half of the event will take place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the Pitchfork Room on the
Cody Regional Health West Park Hospital campus and will feature a complimentary lunch and
presentation by general surgeons Dr. Thomas H. Etter and Dr. Rebecca Deal.
During the presentation, attendees will learn how robotic-assisted surgery works, how it is
currently being used at Cody Regional Health, and what this advanced technology means for
patients across the Big Horn Basin. A live demonstration of the DaVinci system will also be
included.
Following the lunch and learn, Cody Regional Health will host community open demonstrations
from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. During this time, guests are invited to stop by, see the robotic system
up close, participate in hands-on demonstrations, ask questions, and meet members of the
surgical team.
Cody Regional Health is also engaging local students in a unique way, inviting elementary
school classrooms across the Big Horn Basin to help name the new robotic system. Students
are encouraged to submit name ideas by May 20, which will be reviewed by the surgical team.
A winning name will be selected and announced on May 27.
“This technology represents a meaningful advancement in how we care for our patients locally,”
said Ashley Trudo, Cody Regional Health Spokesperson. “Being able to offer robotic-assisted
procedures close to home allows our community to receive high-quality, advanced surgical care
without needing to travel.”
The DaVinci Surgical System enhances a surgeon’s precision, flexibility, and control during
procedures, often resulting in smaller incisions, reduced recovery times, and improved
outcomes for patients.
This event reflects Cody Regional Health’s continued commitment to expanding access to
advanced medical care while keeping patients close to home.
Space for the lunch presentation is limited to 40 guests, and RSVP is required by June 5,
2026.
