Clark resident Nicole Forsberg has thrown her hat in the ring for the Park County Commissioners election.
Forsberg, who has an extensive background in agriculture, currently serves as the state committeewoman for the Park County GOP, in addition to serving as the precinct representative for Clark. During her time on the central committee in the PCGOP, Forsberg has participated in quarterly state meetings with representatives from every county throughout the state.
“A lot happens there that definitely influences politics and policy in the state,” Forsberg said. “That’s the main reason I wanted to get involved, it’s how I can make a difference.”
Three of the five seats on the Park County Commissioners Board are up for grabs during the upcoming election.
Though still early in the filing period during which candidates must declare their candidacy to be included on ballots during the primary election, Forsberg joins a crowded field of those vying for a seat on the board of commissioners. The filing period for primary candidates is set to close on May 29, leaving the door open for others to hop in the race.
During a May 5 Speak Your Piece interview, Forsberg highlighted her primary goal as a commissioner: to foster economic development to ensure local children have an opportunity to live and work in Park County once they mature – citing her son James as specific inspiration.
“The first thing and most important thing I talk about — it’s the most important job I have — is being a mother,” Forsberg explained. “I would like for Park County to be a place where he can find opportunity and where he can afford to live here… My primary thing is, ‘What kind of world do I want to build for the next generation?'”
Forsberg added that balancing economic growth alongside ensuring that the culture and heritage of Park County are protected is vitally important to her.
Additionally, Forsberg pointed to her career in the agriculture industry as a useful tool in understanding the needs of the Park County community. Coupled with her experience in elected positions with the county Republican Party, she explained that she has a proven track record of listening to her constituents.
In her capacity as a precinct representative and state committeewoman with the PCGOP, Forsberg highlighted multiple resolutions that she has worked on alongside those who elected her into office.
“To me, that’s a shining example of listening to the concerns of my constituents and acting on them accordingly,” Forsberg said of the multiple resolutions she’s drafted.
