Yellowstone Forever raised $1 million in three days to help construction at the North Entrance of Yellowstone.
The million in private funds raised by the Yellowstone education non-profit has been matched by federal funds from the National Park Foundation. The $2 million will go towards infrastructure at Yellowstone’s North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana to deal with the increasing traffic going through the gate each year. Another lane will be added, ticketing kiosks replaced, and parking and water lines will be replaced to match the flow of the increased traffic and prevent flow issues.
This project is a testament to the potential power of partnerships between public and private organizations, to complete projects fast and in a responsible, safe way.
Cam Sholly, the superintendent of Yellowstone, says that projects like this wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of the two non-profits working together to improve the Yellowstone experience.
Yellowstone Forever is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. They have provided over $106 million of cash support and over $64 million of in-kind support since their establishment in 1933.
