Wyoming Legislature To Consider Outlawing Bestiality

There are many things that make Wyoming unique – things like the rodeo, the bronze boot and cirque of the towers. Right now, Wyoming is part of an exclusive club that includes Hawaii, Kentucky, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Vermont and West Virginia. However, if (I really hope “when”) the legislature approves HB46 Wyoming will leave the other seven states behind in outlawing bestiality.

Under the bill, a person found guilty of the crime would be charged with a misdemeanor that could result in a $1,000 fine and up to one year in prison. The bill does note the law does not apply to or prohibit “normal, ordinary or accepted practices involved in animal husbandry, artificial insemination or veterinary medicine.”

If approved, the law would go into effect July 1st, 2021.
