Wyoming Getting $1 Billion in Additional COVID Relief

Wyoming is benefitting from a $1 billion influx thanks to the Biden Administration and the recently passed COVID-19 relief package.

With the passage of the third economic recovery act in Congress, an additional $1.9 trillion is being distributed to the American people. Much of that money is in the form of direct payments going to citizens making $75,000 a year or less.

As part of that package, Wyoming will be receiving approximately $1 billion in state aid.

According to the Wyoming Business Report, an additional $174 million will be sent directly to local municipalities. Another $109 million will be available in the form of grants for capital projects in the Equality State.

The aid is not restricted to pandemic-related costs and needs. The only major stipulation is that it has to be fully spent by the end of 2024.

It’ll be another 60 days before that billion dollars reaches Wyoming.

“We’re definitely putting a lot of effort into looking at both the short term and the long term to find out what opportunities exist with this money to find out how to have as significant an impact as possible,” says Renny MacKay, senior policy adviser to Gov. Mark Gordon.
