Don’t shoot that badger!
Wyoming Game and Fish sends a friendly reminder to anyone considering the expulsion of these critters from their property. In the State of Wyoming, badgers are considered fur-bearing animals. They fall under the same fur-bearing animal hunting or trapping license required for any of the other fur-bearing wildlife in the state.
Contrary to common perception, they are not classified as predatory animals. Licenses are not required for the harvesting of predatory animals like foxes, jackrabbits, porcupines, and wolves although different sets of laws apply. Anyone who has questions about the legality of harvesting certain animals is encouraged to contact their local Game and Fish Office.
Wyoming’s fur-bearing animals are badgers, beavers, bobcats, marten, mink, muskrat, and weasels.
