Wyoming Football Recruit, Tony Evans, Killed in Dallas

Wyoming Football Signee, Tony Evans Jr. was killed early Sunday morning in Dallas, according to Dallas Police.

Evans, along with one other person were shot in a Dallas hotel around 1:30 Sunday morning, according to ESPN. Evans was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other victim is in stable condition.

According to ESPN, Wyoming football coach Craig Bohl released the following statement.

“Our hearts are with the Evans family as they go through this incredibly difficult time. We are so sad to hear of Tony’s passing. We have been in contact with Tony’s family and are here to support them in any way we can.”

Evans, signed with Wyoming last February to play wide receiver. Last year at Lancaster High School, in Texas, Evans had 13 catches for 168 yards and four touchdowns.

Upon being signed by the Cowboys, coach Bohl had this to say about Evans.  “The name Tony Evans struck me when I saw it. When we started recruiting Tony, I realized I was on the coaching staff at Tulsa when Tony Jr.’s dad played there. It is great to have Tony Jr. join our program. He possesses great receiving skills. He is a tall receiver, who can stretch the field, and he comes from an excellent high school program.”
