With Covid restrictions being lifted to seat 500 spectators it made for a playoff type atmosphere. In the annual “Play for Hope” game which the Warriors and Lady Warriors wear pink.
Lander would come into Warrior Gymnasium to even the series between these two ranked teams. With Powell, Lander, Lovell, and Worland all in the Northwest Quad of the Wyoming 3A Division. Two of those teams won’t make State.
Worland was ranked second for the first time all season. They have been ranked number one all season long. With the loss to Powell Coaches and Media dropped them in the polls.
The opening period would be the lowest scoring period of the game. Squeezing points as each team settled in. Rudy Sanford had five which included a three pointer. Mack Page also had five. Jorey Anderson also hit from long range. Brian St. Clair finished the first period with six. 14-8 at the end of the first.
As the second period started to unfold it was no doubt St. Clair was leading the way for the Tigers. He had fourteen of his first half twenty in the second period.
Page had eight, Jorey added six more. The Warriors would score eighteen points in the second period. Lander was totally fueled by St. Clair in scoring. He had fourteen of the sixteen the Tigers would score in the second. Tisso Guina had a bucket to get to the sixteen. Worland with an eight point halftime lead. 32-24
Both Sanford and St. Clair each had eight in the third period. Rudy had two from downtown. With each team scoring sixteen in the third Worland came out of the period the same way they went in. Up by eight. 48-40 end of the third period.
St.Clair added another five points in the fourth. What happened after that? Rudy Sanford is what happened. Rudy had twelve points in the fourth. Adding two more three pointers. Sanford made 5 of 7 three pointers. 71% from the field and ended with 27 points. St. Clair would finish with 32 points.
Mack Page 17, Jorey Anderson 11. Court Gonzalez with 7 Assists. Brock Douzenis finished with 7 points. His contribution was on defensive rebounds. Douzenis finished with 9 boards, 8 of those on the defensive end. The Warriors finished with a season high 26 defensive rebounds. With a 12 point Conference win 66-54.
