Week Zero against 2A Hot Springs County High School Bobcats.
The Warriors learned about themselves. Some things went well. Some things didn’t go as well as hoped.
We learned Kade Weber can run the offense. He understood all the play calls and corrected and reset some of his teammates. Kade not only knew his job, but everyone else’s. There is plenty of big play potential and the players to make those plays.
The offensive line were able to give time and create holes for the running backs.
The skill positions all looked like they couldn’t wait to break one to the house.
Defensively we saw Jorey Anderson take a leadership role in the secondary, calling out coverage and setting up his guys. Jorey had two interceptions while the one’s were all still in.
The defensive line created pressure and played on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
Aaron Carver looked like…. well Aaron Carver. We heard him say earlier during two a days that he was going to have to work harder. harder.
The 2’s came in and continued to understand the schemes and the overall direction of the team.
Highlight’s for “the Dogs” came from Wide Receiver and Safety Masen Decker who caught a touchdown and an interception. Ethene Burns also scored a goal line bruising run for the young Warriors.
The un-clocked scrimmage was kept track by play count and reps. Turnovers weren’t counted. Sacks, tackles for lose, and 4th down stops were not recorded. The officials used the scrimmage as teaching moments and points of emphasis.
The scoreboard showed 19-12 as the final.
