The Worland Warrior wrestling team headed to State in Casper with several wrestlers with a chance at a title. Eight of them would place.
The Warriors scored 165.5 points at The Wyoming 3A State Wrestling Championships at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper, Wyoming on Friday. Star Valley finished first for the sixth straight year. The Douglas Bearcats finished in second 36.8 points ahead of Worland.
Kobe Swain Junior at the 113 pound weight class finished sixth. The weight class was won by three time State Champion from Lyman. Junior, Sefton Douglass.
Finishing fourth at the 120 pound weight class Sophomore Ross Goncalves. The weight class was won by Waylon Nelson Senior from Star Valley.
At the 132 pound weight class Senior Kein Anderson would get sixth place. The State Champion for 132 is Colton Gelhausen, Junior from Pinedale.
Three time State Champion Senior Luke Goncalves over Jackson Wood of Cody with a 24 second pin at the 170 pound weight class. Listen to Luke’s interview just below.
Ralph Mareno the 182 pound Junior finished fifth at State. The two time State Champion Jack Sweeney would win that weight class.
The Warriors second State Champion would be Lane McBee at the 195 pound weight class with a 55 second fall in the first of Torrington’s Senior Rhiley Grubb.
Junior Christian Peterson would be a State Runner-Up at the 220 pound weight class. Torrington Sophomore, Sam Sorenson would win the match and become the State Champion.
At the Heavy Weight class Senior Koby Tigner would place fifth. Lincoln Siebert Senior from Burns/Pine Bluffs would win the State Championship in the weight class.
In the other weight classes : 106 Kale Knezovich, Freshman Green River. 126 Jacob Guild, Junior Star Valley. 138 Cody Phelps Junior three time State Champion from Pinedale.
145 Lane Ewing two time State Champion Sophomore over returnig State Champion Kale Corley Senior from New Castle/Upton. 152 Haze Child, Senior, from Star Valley defeated Senior, Seth Horton, returning State Champion from Powell.
170Keegan Gelhausen, Senior, from Pinedale wins his third State Championship.
