The 2021 Wyoming High School Golf season is underway. The Worland Warriors started the season they same as they finished last season. With the tournament win. All be it, last season’s finale was for a State Title.
The Park County Shootout would be the setting to kick off the season. It’s a two day tournament starting at Olive Glenn Country Club in Cody and finishing day two at the Powell Golf Club.
Seven teams competed at the two day event that started Thursday the 12th of August-Friday the 13th of August. Host teams Cody and Powell, Thermopolis, Lovell, and Worland from the Big Horn Basin. Kemmerer would make the trip as well as the Sheridan JV team.
The Boy’s team was lead by Senior Golfer Karsten Simmons. He lead the way for the Warriors shooting -6 under par in the two day tournament. Karsten would win the individual overall scoring a 70 in Cody and a 68 in Powell. Senior Landon Gilmore hits 160 for his two day total finishing 4th in the Shootout. Jackson Dunham finished 7th with a 167.
The Warriors would win the Shootout by 39 strokes with a 659. Cody was second with a 698 followed by Thermopolis, Lovell, Kemmerer, and Powell.
The Lady Warriors would get a second place finish totaling a 709. Sophomore Sam Keller lead the Lady Warriors with a two day total of 234. Sophomore Rhian Roserio finished one stroke behind with a 235 for 5th place. Sophomore Taylor Simmons finished the Shootout with a 240 finishing 6th overall.
Worland will host the next tournament beginning Thursday August 19th.
