Thursday Music Spotlight- Justine May

For this Thursdays music spotlight I got the chance to sit down and talk to Justine May, from Meeteetse.

May started playing music when she was 16 taking a guitar class at school. Even though she was just learning the basics, it cracked open a door she would end up kicking wide open.

That musical door started unlocked to say the least though with her childhood consisting of her singing about everything she walked by.

May talks about her style of writing and really spoke to how her personal experiences are what helps her get words on the paper.

Her advice to younger artists would be to write more and get in touch with that piece of your mind when you’re younger. “Don’t be afraid to write a bad song.”

You can’t expect every song to be one hit wonder, and you have to start somewhere.

The song you can hear below in the interview is called “Don’t Waste my Time,” which I am sure you can hear her play this St. Paddy’s day at the Cowboy Bar & Grill.
