There will be a temporary road closure in Yellowstone National Park near the Tower Junction due to a motor vehicle collision.
From Monday, September 11 at 11 p.m. through Tuesday, September 12 at 4 a.m., on the road from Tower Junction to Mammoth Hot Springs will be closed temporarily while crews work to extricate the final part of a concrete truck.
According to the Yellowstone National Park Public Affairs Office, on the evening of August 28, a cement truck rolled off of the road and onto a minivan near Tower Junction.
“The five occupants of the minivan were extricated and moved to safety,” shared the YNP Office. “Crews removed parts of the cement truck; however, due to the hardened cement inside, the drum of the truck had to remain on scene until special equipment could arrive to assist with removal.”
While the final removal is occurring, all lanes of travel will be closed during the operations to ensure the safety of park visitors.
