Sheriff’s Department: Write 2020 in 2020

Writing two extra letters can save you a lot of potential problems this year.

You’ve probably heard “hindsight is 2020” enough in the past few days to make you sick, but The Park County Sheriff’s Department knows it can save you the downside of that silly saying.

The Sheriff’s Department has an odd but important message for this year – don’t abbreviate 2020. As tempting as it is to simply write “20” on your checks or legal documents, its an obvious opening for fraud. It would be too easy for someone to alter the date – 20 could become 2019, 2021, or any other possible date this century. You might not think of this as a big deal – a barely noticeable detail – but it’s the kind of thing that criminals never overlook.

So, make a mental note to fully acknowledge and write 2020. It might save you a lot of serious issues down the line. After all – hindsight is 2020.
