It’s a race to the finish line for construction on Sheridan Avenue, with W.Y.D.O.T. and construction crews confident they’ll reach the mid-June deadline.
The Sheridan Avenue rehabilitation project is within a month of its conclusion, after a year of intense work to completely overhaul the road, sidewalks, and crosswalks.
2021 threw numerous construction delays at the road crews. But sudden snowstorms and subzero temperatures weren’t enough to slow things down.
Cody Beers, W.Y.D.O.T. Public Relations Specialist, has expressed his confidence construction crews will finish the entire project by the June 15th deadline.
Work will continue on concrete slab replacement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and A.D.A. upgrades at Alger Avenue and Beck Avenue on the east half of 17th Street. The east intersection of Beck Avenue and 17th Street will be closed during this work.
- Concrete Joint Sealing continues 17th Street from Stampede Avenue through Central Avenue. Expect partial intersection closures, but no traffic stops at these locations.
- Night grinding from 9 PM to 7 AM will continue from Central Avenue to Alger Avenue. Expect rolling intersections closures at Alger Avenue and partial closures at Central Avenue and Draw Street during this work. Grinding and texturing work on the project will be completed this week.
- Installation of Thermoplastic Marking is scheduled to start this week from 14th Street to 16th Street on Sheridan Avenue. Expect work on one side of the street while traffic is carried on the other half of the street. Expect a partial closure on the north half of the 16th Street and Sheridan Avenue Intersection.
- Asphalt patching of parking lots and streets from 16th Street to Stampede Avenue will begin as other areas are completed.
Traffic will be carried in one lane in each direction on one side of the street while work is being completed on the other half of the street for all work operations.
The speed limit is reduced to 20 mph through the work zone. No left turns are allowed through the work zone.
