It’s time to tear up Sheridan once again.
August 24th is the official start date of the 2nd phase of the Sheridan Avenue rehabilitation project. Its going to be more of the same work Cody was becoming accustomed to until the work stopped for the summer on June 15th. Concrete “panels” in the road will be replaced, along with every intersection corner to bring their ramps and sidewalks up to ADA compliance. There will only ever be single or double lane closures, so traffic will always be moving on Sheridan for the entire duration. You’ll still be able to still drive on Sheridan, but might want to plan alternate routes along streets like Beck and Rumsey. This is especially true when it comes to parking, which will be extremely limited in front of the affected stores. The second phase of the Cody project is located between 14th/15th streets on Sheridan Avenue, and runs to Alger Avenue. Work will be going in reverse this time, starting at Alger and heading back to meet up with 14th Street.
Things will kick into gear a little earlier this time. As per the agreement with the City of Cody, the primary contractor S&S Builders will start storm sewer installation and replacement at the intersection of Alger Ave and 17th Street. That work begins at 9 am on August 18th. The intersection will be narrowed at this time, but will never be entirely closed. Just like with the rest of the Sheridan construction, 1 lane of travel in each direction will be maintained.
As construction resumes, so too do the weekly outdoor public meetings on the construction progress and updates. Those will be held at 9 am every Tuesday at the southeast corner of 16th and Sheridan. The first is on Tuesday, August 18th.
