Senator Enzi Encourages Applications for 2020 Senate Pages

Senator Mike Enzi may be retiring, but he’s eager to share his wisdom and experience with Wyoming’s future generations.

Wyoming students are encouraged to apply to be a Senate page for the U.S. Senate’s Fall 2020 session. The Senate page session during the fall runs from September 8, 2020, to January 22, 2021, although the program has not issued guidance on how COVID-19 will impact the pages and their time as a page. High school juniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA are encouraged to apply. Duties consist primarily of delivering correspondence and legislative material at the Capitol, preparing the Senate chamber for sessions and carrying bills and amendments to the appropriate people on the Senate floor. Pages live in Webster Hall located near the Capitol, receive a stipend to cover the cost of the residence, and breakfast and dinner are provided each day.

This will be Senator Enzi’s last session as a U.S. Senator as he will be retiring at the end of his current term. He has served in the Senate since January 1997, succeeding Senator Alan Simpson. In the senator’s own words, quote “The Senate Page Program is a great opportunity for young people and provides experiences participants will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Not many people can say they’ve worked on the Senate floor – the page program gives students a front row seat to see history in the making while gaining real work experience,” unquote.

Applications for the Fall 2020 Senate Page Program are due by July 8th. The application and additional information can be found by visiting www.enzi.senate.gov. Further questions can be directed to Dianne Kirkbride in Senator Enzi’s Cheyenne office at 307-772-2477 or Dianne_Kirkbride@enzi.senate.gov.
