Red Cross Seeking Volunteers for County Emergencies

The Red Cross needs you.

The American Read Cross is actively seeking volunteers who can provide assistance if the need arises in Park County and other areas of the state. There is always a need for trained personnel to assist in crisis situations, but with the threat of COVID-19 still looming large and experts anticipating a busy wildfire season, it’s an all hands-on deck situation. Additional precautions are being taken to ensure top quality assistance while maintaining staff safety.

This season, there is a special need for help with shelter efforts.  The Red Cross will be using hotels as emergency lodging when available, bur may need to construct and maintain shelters if the situation requires it. Volunteers are need to help staff shelter reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information collection and other vital tasks to help those who turn to the Red Cross for helping in these trying times. Anyone who’s an RN, LPN, LVN, APRN, NP, EMT, paramedic, MD/DO or PA with an active, current and unencumbered license is especially sought after. Anyone with experience with sheltering and caring for animals is also sought after, as pets might need assistance too.

If you are interested in helping our community should a disaster occur, please go to redcross.org/volunteertoday or contact Joshua Smith, the Red Cross’s Volunteer Services Recruitment Manager at joshua.stewart@redcross.org or 970-242-6646.
