Over the Weekend the Yellowstone Quake Hockey team took to the ice for the first time in three weeks as the second half of the season got underway.
After falling to Sheridan on New Years Eve, the Quake would bounce back nicely defeating Bozeman Friday and Saturday by final scores of 5-2 and 5-3.
Prior to Thursday’s contest vs. Sheridan Quake Head Coach Phil Oberlin said “you have to play 60 minutes the right way the whole time” in order to beat them. The Quake played roughly 40 minutes of great hockey, keeping it close through two periods of play. Sheridan outscored the Quake 5-2 in the third period and out shot the Quake in the frame, 36-6.
As for the Quake’s first outing against Bozeman on Friday it was a much more balanced attack from the Quake where they would take advantage in the third period. The Quake out shot Bozeman 13-9 in the frame, outscoring them 2-0 to lift them to victory.
Saturday was a different story. Bozeman had the upper hand in the final frame but by then the game was already out of hand. The Quake used a big 2nd period outscoring Bozeman 3-0 and took 14 more shots at the goal in that frame to hang hon for the win.
The Quake are now 7-14 on the season and are riding a two game win streak.
Up Next: It’s a short turnaround as the Quake will host Helena for a rare mid week two game seiries Tuesday and Wednesday at 11am both days.
