Becker’s Hospital Review has released its list for the best hospitals with excellent nurse communication in each state, with Powell Valley Healthcare receiving top hospital distinction.
Developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) shared its data to determine the results.
Powell Valley Healthcare has received the top hospital distinction for nurse communication, with only three other hospitals in Wyoming – St. Johns Medical Center in Jackson, Summit Medical Center in Casper, and Johnson County Healthcare Center in Buffalo.
Out of more than 6,000 facilities, only 364 hospitals across the nation received the 5-star designation.
“I want to thank all our nursing leaders and our staff for the hard work and effort they have put in to improve our nurse communication and achieve this level of quality performance,” said Arleen Campeau, Chief Nursing Officer.
“This makes a positive impact on our patient care and satisfaction and is an important part of the healing process,” said Campeau.
The data from the nurse communication star rating combines three HCAHPS survey questions and recaps how well patients feel their nurses explained things, how well they listened to the patient, and if the patient was treated with courtesy and respect.
The average score of all three questions was 87% and, on the question, “Nurses treat with courtesy & respect,” the score was 95%.
