Park County School District #1 Superintendent Jay Curtis took to Facebook with the latest update on the virus’s spread: three students and one non-instructional staff member have tested positive.
Those people are currently in isolation, in addition to eight students and one staff member also in quarantine but who haven’t – currently – tested positive.
Contact tracing for all the confirmed and probable cases is currently underway.
Curtis emphasized the same point he made earlier this week when the first case was confirmed: this was inevitable. But he also made another appeal to the community, reiterating that the best defense schools and students have is the proactivity of the Powell community.
Classes will continue as normal, but there is some discussion of changes at Powell High School. Curtis suggested a transition to Tier 2 at the high school might be necessary, should the case count get much higher. This means students would attend school in hybrid form, with half the student body attending classes in person while the other half attends virtually.
This transition would only occur at the high school. There’s no public discussion regarding a change for the entire district.
