PC GOP Responds to Simpson’s Remarks

Republican Party

Members of the Park County Republican Party fired back Tuesday morning at a former Wyoming U.S. senator, who called the party “hateful.”

During KODI’s “Speak Your Piece with Darian Dudrick,” chairman Martin Kimmet, vice chairman Bob Ferguson and state committeeman Vince Vanata responded to the comments made by fellow Republican Al Simpson during his recent appearance on SYP.

During that April 13 show, Simpson asked, “Why do you want to join a party that’s just filled with hatred?” He was referring to conservatives’ views on social issues and their criticisms of President Biden and U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney.

“He’s way off-base. We don’t hate anybody. We don’t agree with what they do, but there’s no hate there,” Kimmet said.

Ferguson added, “If right-wing crazies are those people that oppose abortion, believe in God, believe in church, believe in the Second Amendment, believe in individual rights, then sign me up, pal. Those aren’t crazies. That’s the majority of the Republican base.”

Vanata said he was “offended” by Simpson’s words, and “the overwhelming majority of the people in our county party here are really good people.”
