Park County continues to see a steady increase in vaccines and the vaccinated, with over 13,000 vaccinated residents and ample supply for more first-timers.
The latest update from Park County Public Health Nurse Bill Crampton shows how many people are heading the call to get protection from the coronavirus.
There were 10,000 people in Park County – one-third of the population – that received at least part of the vaccination just last week. As of Monday, there are over 13,000 fully or partially vaccinated residents.

In total, 7,809 first doses and 5,299 second doses add up to 13,108 fully or partially vaccinated Park County residents.
Vaccination is going so well that Park County is experiencing a new phenomenon: an ample supply.
The next Park County vaccination clinic is scheduled for Wednesday, March 24. Of the 600 slots available for sign-up, there were less than half-full as of Monday, March 22.
While not specified in the update, this may be the first time Park County is essentially opening a “general call” to the public for vaccination. The supply and appointments are available, so why not get more people signed up?
“Now is not the time to slow down,” Crampton says. “Don’t worry about taking a dose away from someone else. The number of openings is for the number of vaccines we have on hand. Due to the special handling needs of these vaccines, we will have these large amounts for only so long. Don’t wait until later to sign.”
There’s a plan for large public vaccination clinics, like the drive-thru flu shot model established last fall. That won’t be until May at the earliest.
Since the supply is available now, it’s giving more people more chances to get their shot at beating COVID-19.
Considering a year has passed since the beginning of the pandemic, this is a remarkable achievement for the community. Crampton wants to ensure that the praise goes to the right people: Park County Public Health, their partners, and the general public.
“A big thanks to the Park County community for their patience. Together we are making this happen by providing safe, effective vaccines to as many in the community as possible,” Crampton says.
