Both the Northwest College basketball teams returned to action this weekend for another three games in three days. It was a successful stint in Scottsbluff, Nebraska for both the teams as they would each come away with a pair of wins.
We’ll start with a look at the women’s basketball team who would win their match-ups with Central Comunity College-Columbus and Lamar Community College.
Against Central the Lady Trappers walked off the court with a 74-67 win. NWC would lead the whole way and were led by Sydney Prather and Shelby Tarter in scoring with 11 points each. Samiyah Worrell added 10.
Against Lamar CC, the Lady Trappers held a 14 pint advantage after three quarters and were able to hold off a late Lamar comeback to capture the 54-52 win.
The ladies only loss over the weekend came at the hands of Western Nebaraska Community college by a final score of 91-76.
As for the Northwest College men’s basketball team… they would pick up a 67-58 win over Central Community College-Columbus and a 78-67 win over Western Nebraska Community College while falling to Lamar 80-59.
The Trappers found themselves down by two at the half against Central but would use an 11 point second half advantage to come away victorious.
Against Western Nebraska, the Trappers would again use a second half comeback to claim the win. NWC found themselves down by four at the half and put up 50 second half points to claim victory.
Leading the way for the Trappers in that game was Jaren Fritz with 30 points.
Following the weekend’s action the Northwest College Women’s basketball team sits at 4-4 on the season while the men are 5-4.
Up Next: Both teams will play host to Rocky Mountain College JV on Wednesday and Thursday for their home opener inside the Cabre Gym.
As for the Northwest College Volleyball team, they would sweep the weekend on their home court winning all four of their matches over the weekend.
On Thursday, February 11th, the Lady Trappers opened the weekend with a 3-0 win over Colorado Northwestern Community College.
On Friday, the Lady Trappers defeated Williston State College 3-1 earlier in the day before beating Dawson Community College 3-0 later on.
And on Saturday, it was another 3-0 win for NWC volleyball over Dawson, again winning 3-0.
Following the weekend’s action the Northwest College Volleyball team has now won 5 straight games and sit at 10-5 on the season.
