Northwest College has a plan.
The college has released their reopening plan for the Fall 2020 semester, after it was reviewed and approved by the Board of Trustees. The goals are relatively simple – give students as normal a semester as possible, while keeping it uninterrupted by COVID-19. To do this, the college has designated six objectives that will guide staff, students, and administrators in their response to COVID-19:
- protect employees’ and students’ health and safety;
- communicate regularly and clearly;
- maintain continuity and integrity of services, when/where possible;
- limit or reduce financial or legal impacts, when/where possible;
- establish and maintain contacts and connections with federal/state or local officials;
- and restore regular college operations partially or entirely, when/where possible.
To achieve this end, everyone on campus will be held to similar standards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required. All employees, students, and any campus visitors will be required to wear face coverings, maintain social distancing practices and limit in-person gatherings. High-touch surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected regularly. Students who choose to live on campus will live in a single room for a reduced rate, and work is underway to modify dining services to maintain social distancing.
This plan is flexible and will accommodate for any state or county public health orders and variances. Students who will be attending college in Fall 2020 will be kept up-to-date with any and all changes.
