In addition to their usual summer offerings, the college will be offering HMDV 1101 General Studies First Year Seminar as a free online course beginning June 8th. According to the college’s website: This is the official “Cornerstone” course for the General Studies discipline. It is an orientation class which introduces students to institutional resources, opportunities, and programs that enhance their academic and social success.
Dean of Student Learning Greg Thomas says that any and all summer courses are beneficial for current and potential students in many ways – they give experience with online learning and the technical aspects needed to complete classes. But the General Studies First Year Seminar is particularly relevant as it shows anyone how to be a successful college student and fulfills a requirement for every NWC degree. All for free.
While the physical buildings on campus will remain closed until at least May 31st, enrollment for online classes is open. All summer courses begin on June 8th.
