Wyoming small business owners have spoken – more vocation, less taxation.
A survey of small business owners across the state has revealed almost unanimous consent on several issues. This is part of an annual poll on state and federal issues conducted by the National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s leading small business association. Four questions were asked of business owners this year.
A whopping 87% of business owners said that Wyoming’s high schools should offer more vocational and technical training for students who are not planning to go to college, so they might be prepared for the workforce force in trades that have seen slumping employment and interest in recent years.
86% were against imposing a corporate tax on businesses – one of the ideas currently being floated by the state as a way to fill the coffers. Only 4% approved of the tax. There was also majority disapproval of cities enacting their own labor and employment laws and tolling portions of I-80 to increase a state infrastructure fund.
This poll will help the Wyoming branch of the National Federation of Independent Business decide the focus of their lobbying efforts in Cheyenne and Washington D.C.
