Today could be the day that the Cody Chamber of Commerce announces a new executive director. Two candidates met with chamber members on Monday…they are Karen Myers of Sheridan and Jennifer Toma of Cody.
Chamber board chair David Taylor told Cody Enterprise, “They’re super-qualified candidates, capable, super-nice, well-informed” he said. “It’ll be a tough choice.”
Myers currently works at the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with its art league. New to the area, Toma has visited Cody and moved here recently with her husband who’s relocating his business to the area.
The candidates also met with chamber members at a reception this week. Chamber board chair David Taylor calls both candidates “top notch people” who are super-qualified. He said it’ll be a tough choice.
The job opening attracted 31 applicants, Taylor said. After zoom meetings with 12 of them, the chamber pared the list to three, and one dropped out, Taylor said.
During the 2 1/2-hour reception at the Olive Glenn Country Club on Monday, the candidates “worked the crowd,” said Taylor, who was pleased with the turnout. “We wanted as much community input as possible to end up with a good result.
After the reception, the chamber’s election and executive committees met and then met again Tuesday. On Friday they plan to make an offer, he said.
Taylor noted that the selection process was changed to include a meeting between the candidates and the chamber staff and also the open house with a chance for participants to fill out comment cards.
“They’re both top-notch people. I’m very optimistic,” Taylor said.
