It seems like just about everything can be measured these days, and now we know which Thanksgiving side is most preferred in each state thanks to the career website Zippia which used Google Trends to figure this out.
The most popular side in the country is mashed potatoes winning 10 states. Right behind it was mac and cheese and green bean casserole. Green bean casserole is my personal favorite.
The popularity of certain sides definitely had a lot to do with the region. In northeastern states, stuffing was quite popular while in the midwest, rolls were often the preferred side. Mac and cheese was also very popular in the east coast states of South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, and Georgia.
Now you might be wondering – what is Wyoming’s most popular Thanksgiving side? The answer is brown gravy. Wyoming is the only state in the country to choose brown gravy. Other states chose gravy but preferred other kinds of gravy with white gravy the most popular in Arkansas and turkey gravy the most popular in Hawaii.
No matter what side is your favorite, I think we can all agree that eating Thanksgiving food is one of the highlights of the year.
