Molly Hays Career Day leads Fillies past Sheridan

Behind 22 fourth quarter points and a career high of 19 from Molly Hays, the Cody Fillies came back to defeat Sheridan 57-50 Saturday afternoon.

Hays was a force all afternoon long, scoring 15 of her 19 points in the second half. She was also opportunistic picking up steal-after-steal on the defensive end.

The game got started off with a 3-point field goal from Brittan Bower and after each team went on a run early the Fillies found themselves leading after one quarter of play, 13-11.

The second quarter saw the Fillies get outscored by six points and heading into the halftime break Cody would trail 25-21.

The second half saw a much different Cody Filly squad. The Fillies dropped in 36 second half points highlighted by that 22-point fourth quarter. It seemed like everything went the Fillies way that half, from getting into the lane, drawing fouls, which in turn helped free them up for some outside baskets.

Leading the way for the Fillies was Molly Hays with her career high 19 points, Kennedi Niemann added 13 and Torrie Schutzman had eight (all in the second half) to lead the Fillies. Nine differenct Fillies would score a bucket and as a team they were 11-14 from the Free Throw line.

With the win the fillies open 3-1 on the season.

As for the Cody Broncs, they would find themselves on the losing end Saturday as the second best team in class 4a, Sheridan, shut them down to a tune of 67-14.

Sheridan would use a big first half, scoring 43 points and held Cody to just 10 as they improved to 3-0 with the win.

The Cody Broncs open the season 0-4.
