A man is dead after a motorcycle crash outside of Cody.
The investigation by Wyoming Highway Patrol says that 56-year-old Joe Lees of Illinois was driving into Cody on WY Highway 120N when the crashed occurred just north of Road 2AB.
According to the report, because the speed limits drops from 70MPH to 35MPH along that stretch of road, the motorcycle didn’t appear to slow down and couldn’t make the turn. Lees continued on his motorcycle and hit a concrete curb on the opposite side of the highway. His bike fell to the side, hitting a metal traffic delineator, and coming to rest after going to a steep embankment.
Lees was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was thrown from the motorcycle.
Speed was an indicator in the crash.
Saturday night’s fatality was the seventh in Park County for 2024.
The investigation is on-going.
