The National Park Service recently completed an extensive renovation of the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel in Yellowstone National Park.
Funded by the National Park Service, the four-year renovation of the historic hotel totaled about $30 million. Yellowstone and Xanterra Travel Collection partnered to preserve the historic look and feel of the structure, which has been an important gathering spot at the Park’s headquarters.
Rick Hoeninghausen, head of Marketing for Xanterra in Yellowstone, says the renovations were made with an emphasis towards sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint, along with upgrades to utilities, accessibility, and bringing seismic standards up to code.
Hoeninghausen pointed out that the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel is located at the headquarters of the Park, and so receives a significant amount of attention from visitors as well as VIP guests. He says it deserved an upgrade.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the upgraded facility will be held on August 30th from 10-1 p.m. in front of the hotel to celebrate the reopening of this historic structure. Speakers at the event will include Yellowstone National Park’s superintendent, the project manager, and Xanterra’s general manager.
