Major Construction On Sheridan Avenue Next Year

Prepare for major roadwork on Sheridan Avenue next year.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation will begin a major project on Sheridan Avenue between 10th Street and Stampede Avenue next year. This will be the first major road maintenance on Sheridan Avenue since it was completely rebuilt in the mid-1980s. WYDOT says this project cannot be delayed any longer, or the road will inevitably need a full reconstruction in the future.

There is an extensive list of work that needs to be done:

  • Replacing concrete
  • Gutter and curb repair
  • Upgrading all corners and crosswalks for ADA accessibility,
  • Resealing joints
  • Grinding and texturing the entire roadway

The work is expected to begin in March 2020. Two-way traffic will be maintained during the entire project.

The good news is that any contractor who is awarded the project cannot work between June 15th and August 24th so the construction will not cause issues with the increased traffic during the tourist season.

KODI will continue covering this story as the date of the construction draws closer.
