The Worland Lady Warriors went into the Wyoming 3A State Basketball Championships in Casper as the number 3 seed out of the West Region.
Worland would first face the number 2 seed from the East Region in the Torrington Lady Trailblazers at Casper College for the opening game of the State Tournament.
The Lady Warriors saw Torrington in their second game of the season winning 48-44 in Torrington. Darla Hernandez had 18 points that game and Tymberlynn Crippen added 16. Reece Halley had 25 for the Lady Blazers.
Torrington was only able to come up with 2 points in the first period and a total of 9 in the first half. The Lady Warriors had 23 in the first half. The opening game of the State Championships would be a win by the Lady Warriors 47-28 out rebounding Torrington 37 to 25 on the bourds.
The second game of the State Championships would also be a rematch against Lyman that the Lady Warriors lost to on January 9th. 58-51. The Semifinal game would be a close contest. The Lady Eagles were able to hold Darla Hernandez to just four points. Her lowest scoring outing of the season.
Lyman would go on to win 45-41 and advance to the State Championship against the Douglas Lady Bearcats. With the loss the Lady Warriors would play for 3rd place.
Worland would face a familiar team in the Lander Valley Lady Tigers who they had faced three other times. The fourth game would be for the most important prize of the series.
The first two periods were highly contested. the first period ended with a one point Worland lead 14-13. The first half would end in a 19-19 tie. Seperation for the Lady Warriors would begin in the third period. A 7 point lead would turn into a 9 point win 45-36 as the Lady Warriors finished 3rd in the State of Wyoming 3A girls basketball.
Darla Hernandez would receive All-State honors for the Lady warriors as the Senior driven team finished 17-6 overall. Ajiah Montoya, Denali Jones, Tymberlynn Crippen, and Logan Yule. Were the Seniors on the Lady Warrior 2020-21 team.
