Lady Warrior Volleyball Advance

Hosting the Quad Regional tournament and going in as the number one seed. The Worland Lady Warriors started the matches off with a straight set victory over the fourth seed Lovell Lady Bulldogs : 25-15, 25-21, 25-14. The second seed Lander Valley Lady Tigers played next on the court against the number three seed Powell Lady Panthers. Lander Valley came away with the win over Powell: 25-11, 25-16, 25-14.

The table was set for the rubber match between the Lady Warriors and the Lady Tigers. Lander Valley would take the first set 19-25 with several long runs by the Lady Tigers. The second set would go all Worland with several kill shots by both Darla Hernandez and Payton Julson. A dominating third set performance from the Lady Warriors would include plays from Denali Jones and Ajiah Montoya winning 25-10. In the fashion in which has become consistent with these two teams Lander Valley would win the fourth set 19-25 and force a final fifth set. The drama of a fifth set was quickly dowsed with a 9-0 run served up by Senior Payton Julson that would win the set, and match.

“Not a lot of five set experience, it was really good for us to get to five, just to win a five.” said Worland Lady Warrior Head Volleyball Coach Brittney Miller. (we) “Talked about this being my house” added Miller. When asked about the experience of the team Miller would say.”Seven incredible Seniors, this was their very last match on this court. You could just feel it, how deep that is. No one plays for themselves, they definitely play for Worland.” The Lady Warriors will head to Pinedale Saturday to face Mountain View in an 11am match up with Southwest Quad second seed. The 15-7 Lady Buffaloes bet Worland in four sets back on October 12th. “We’re not even running anything we ran the first time we saw them.” Asking about how Coach Miller saw the match. “We’re going to cause them a lot of problems.” she added ” We’re going to be a different team that lost to them before.” Lander Valley will play at 9am against Pinedale in the West Reginal. The Lady Warriors will be playing in matches that could advance them to the State round in Casper.
