Kayne West spent a few days sharing his art with Cody High School.
Earlier this week, West’s producer contacted the school asking if they had any space to rehearse an opera that Kayne has been commissioned to write and perform in Los Angeles next week. Wade French, Director of Bands & Instrumental Music at Cody High School, lent his band room to Kayne and the large assemblage of artists he brought with him – a 100-member choir, 50 dancers, and several musical soloists.
West was extremely personable and encouraged students to listen and observe the process. Some students were even incorporated into the creative brainstorming. One of the senior band members improvised with her saxophone at the request of the soloists.
Several Cody students watched the artists work. The Cody Band even got to see a snippet of the opera and Kayne performing one of his new singles.
French says that everyone seemed comfortable and happy to be in Cody, especially Kayne West. He is more than welcome to return to Cody High School in the future.
