As progress on the $4.93 million-dollar Sheridan Avenue rehabilitation project moves forward, work enters the night grinding stage.
Starting next Monday, September 21, concrete grinding will begin between 14th and 15th Streets on side of Sheridan, and Beck and Alger Avenues on the other. The hours for this work will be between 9 PM and & 7 AM, avoiding the busiest construction times while ensuring the work gets done.
This is actually a sign of how the project has progressed. Except for some minor Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades on the southeast corner of 15th Street, the work between 14th and 15th is completed.
The east intersection of 15th and Sheridan reopened last night.
Work is similarly close to completion on Beck Avenue, but that intersection will remain close for the week.
From there, you know the drill. Traffic is being carried on one lane in each direction on one side of the street, while work is being completed on the other half of the street. The work zone speed limit is 20 mph. Left turns are not allowed through the work zone.
