As the wild ride that is 2020 continues, skywatchers will be treated soon to a unique and once in a lifetime sight.
During the Winter Solstice on December 21st, Jupiter and Saturn will appear to come together to form one big star. These planets normally come together every 20 years, but this year’s conjunction is especially rare because of how close they will be to one another.
The next time they will be this close is in 2080. This is also the first time in 800 years they will be this close.
Now despite how close they may look, these planets will still be hundreds of millions of miles apart. It really puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?
Another cool space event will be happening soon on Sunday the 13th as the best meteor shower of the year will be taking place. More information on that can be found below.
