The latest hotel in Cody boasts several amenities that will make a comfortable trip for anyone booking a stay on the corner of Southfork and West Yellowstone.
“Welcome to the Wild West” reads the sign behind the front desk – with a square folder-holder serving as a temporary representation of the State of Wyoming – a perfect metaphor for the impressive and nearly finished Cody hotel at the corner of Southfork and West Yellowstone Roads.
Yesterday, the Cody Chamber of Commerce welcomed its latest member: the Hampton Inn and Suites Cody. The ribbon was cut for the new hotel, which officially opened Thursday, Jan. 28.
The hotel isn’t quite done yet – there’s still some work on the pool and hot tub area, the back patio, and making sure the rooms are fully cleaned are assembled.
“Just little tiny details in the rooms need to be buttoned up,” says Nate Nelson, the hotel’s general manager. “In another month, we’ll be tee-totally done.”
All of the 92 rooms should be cleaned and finished by the end of next week.
The 18-month construction has gone well, adding a hotel that will create a comfortable stay for its current and future guests.
Casey Thompson, Regional Manager for TKO Hotels, says Cody is a prime location for the hotel. And it’s been a while since a new one’s been built in town.
“It’s been ten years since the last new hotel was built in Cody,” Thompson said, referencing the Best Western Premier Inn right down the street. “Our company likes to build in tourist markets. We also like to be the best corporate hotel in the market. This seemed like a good fit – summers are busy, and hopefully, in winters we’re filling our rooms with corporate travel.”
Thompson says his personal goal isn’t to draw business away from the existing hotels in Cody. He hopes the spirit of friendly competition will benefit everyone – the hotels, the employees, and the whole community.
The 92-room hotel has several unique touches that make it distinct amongst Cody’s hotels.
Those additions include:
- Over 30 five-person family suites, making up 30% of the hotel’s rooms.
- A saltwater pool for added safety and hygiene.
- An outdoor hot tub- also saltwater.
- An outdoor patio and firepit on the backside of the building with grills for guest use.
Many of these amenities are standard for extended stay Hampton hotels. Because of the location of Cody’s Hampton, they were added to enhance that experience.
It seems many of these additions are already paying off. Guests are already staying at the Hampton Inn and Suites Cody, with the future already looking promising.
“Summer’s looking good. We’ve opened to pre-sale in mid-December and we’ve on the book, selling reservations for summer since that time,” Nelson says.
