Average retail gasoline prices in Wyoming have risen 4.6 cents per gallon in the past week, partially due to the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran.
That’s according to Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.com. The state’s average gas price was at $2.73 per gallon on Sunday, which is still 13 cents below the national average. In Cody, however, our gas prices exceed the state average, with prices ranging between $2.79 and $2.84. Greybull’s prices are more in line with the rest of Wyoming, with the Maverik charging $2.73 per gallon as of yesterday.
Prices yesterday were over 45 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago, and are almost 20 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
DeHaan says that the U.S. is in danger of hitting the $3 per gallon level for the first time since 2014. He says some of the factors at play include the country’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran, as well as oil supplies that have continued to drop as U.S. exports surpass Venezuela.
