Funding for History Projects Thru the Lola Homsher Research Grant Program

The Wyoming State Historical Society wants to help you with your history projects.

The Lola Homsher Research Grant Program offers cash grants for anyone involved in a research activity based on Wyoming’s history. The grants range from $100 dollars to $1500 dollars. The funding goes towards the Historical Society’s mission of making Wyoming’s past accessible to its present and future generations.

Preference is given to Wyoming residents doing original research that might discover new pieces of history. Last year’s recipients cover a number of fascinating topics: the history of the campsites at Yellowstone, Wyoming supplying horses for the 1889-1902 Boer War in South Africa, to the Wyoming travels of Ernest Hemingway.

Anyone interested in obtaining funding for their historical project must submit an electronic application to the Lola Homsher Endowment Fund Committee by February 28th, 2020. Winners will be notified sometime in the spring.

Applications and rules can be obtained by visiting the Society’s website at www.wyshs.org and selecting “Programs” and then “Lola Homsher Research Grant Program.”  If you do not have access to the web, please contact the Wyoming State Historical Society at 307-322-3014 or linda@wyshs.org to receive a copy of the application.
