The Cody Fillies Volleyball team competed at the Gillette Invite this past weekend.
There were 24 teams at the tournament 5 teams from South Dakota: Rapid City Central, Stevens, Christian, St. Thomas More, and Spearfish.
One team from Nebraska: Scottsbluff.
Eight Wyoming 4A schools: Sheridan, Campbell County, Thunder Basin, Natrona County, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Riverton, and Cheyenne Central.
Six Wyoming 3A schools: Cody, Burns, Douglas, Buffalo, Newcastle, and Wheatland.
Four Wyoming 2A schools: Wright, Big Horn, Sundance, and Moorcroft.
The Fillies finished 4th overall in the Gold Bracket, the top spot of any out-of-state school and the top 3A team at the tournament.
Cody won their first match over Sundance 25-15,25-21
The Fillies second match was a sweep over Rapid City Central 25-13, 25-17
Their third victory was against Campbell County 25-14, 25-15
The three wins put them in the Gold Bracket, or the top seeded bracket facing the best competition.
The Eight teams in the Gold Bracket were: Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Thunder Basin, Douglas, Rapid City Stevens, Rapid City Christian, Rapid City Central, and Cody.
The Fillies won their first match against Rapid City Christian 25-23, 21-25, 25-13
Cody would then see the Wyoming 4A number 3 ranked Thunder Basin Lady Bolts and would lose 25-9, 25-16
Cody saw the Kelly Walsh Lady Trojans Wyoming 4A number 2 ranked team in the 3rd place match and would fall 25-12, 25-21
The Fillies are 8-2 for the season and play Kelly Walsh in Casper on Thursday Night.
