Female Wrestler Emma Karhu makes History

Wyoming wrestling history was made over the weekend when Emma Karhu placed 5th in the state tournament in Casper, placing higher than any other female has in the past.

Karhu is also the first female to have placed twice in the state tournament.

Karhu, a senior, according to WyoWrestling plans to enroll in the University of Wyoming in the nursing program following this school year and will enter with a GPA of 4.2.

Karhu said that if she was going to teach a young wrestler something that it would be showing them how wrestling is a “mental game.” She talks about the physicality the game attains but how more than anything the mindset will be what gets you past the finish line.

Karhu is an inspiration for athletes and people, the young or the old, you can learn something about hard work and determination from Emma Karhu.
