Cody Students Place in the Wyoming Letters About Literature Contest

Cody students have been recognized for their literary abilities.

Two students from our area placed in their respective grade levels in the 2019-2020 Wyoming Letters About Literature Contest. Wyoming Letters About Literature is a reading and writing promotion program of the Wyoming Center for the Book, a program of the Wyoming State Library. Students write a letter to their favorite author, as a response, rather than a report, on the book they read. What matters is the connection the student makes with the author’s words and the impact it has on that student’s life.

There were nine students who placed in each of the three levels, and several honorable mentions. Among those, in the 7th-8th Grade category, Elisa Wachob won 3rd place for the letter she wrote to Jane Austen, the author of Pride and Prejudice. In the 4th – 6th level, Reece Meritt also received 3rd place, writing to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. Congratulations to all our Cody winners.

The Wyoming Letters About Literature Contest is open to from 4th thru 12th grade students every year. So, if you know a precocious student with a literary mind, encourage them to write about it next school year.
