WYDOT has completed the asphalt paving on the 6.6 miles of the Cody South Project, with chip sealing of the same stretch of Wyoming 120 set for June 2021.
The $5.5 million dollars’ worth of highway improvements stretches between Yellowstone Regional Airport and milepost 74 – the snowplow turnaround south of the Park County Landfill.
The WY120 project includes a full reconstruction from the intersection of WY120 and US14/16/20 (milepost 81.21) to the south. A 5-inch asphalt pavement mill and overlay hooks into the reconstructed highway and continue to near the entrance of the Park County Landfill, and pavement leveling and a pavement overlay complete the project from just south of the landfill turnoff to milepost 74.
But this isn’t the conclusion of the project. Not yet. Several major components left: the chip seal, a shoulder fog seal, the installation of guardrails on the Cody Canal and Alkali Lake bridges, signs, mailboxes, and general land reclamation.
Most of the roadwork was going to be completed by the time Phase 2 of the Sheridan Avenue rehabilitation project began. The installation of the guardrails was delayed, as some of the necessary materials were not delivered on schedule.
The chip seal is set to be completed in June 2021
Everything else on the Cody South Project will be completed on schedule, by October 31.
While most of the major work road is finished, drivers should still expect short traffic delays while they drive along WY 120.
